Jörg Bartel

Jörg Bartel (born May 2, 1957 in Essen ; died July 31, 2015 ) was a German journalist .

Life

Jörg Bartel grew up in Essen-Altendorf as the son of a teacher and studied German , theater studies and philosophy in Munich . In the mid-1980s he began working as a local editor and reporter for the Neue Ruhr / Rhein Zeitung (NRZ), which is published in Essen . He traveled to Tehran with the then Foreign Minister Genscher and with Johannes Rau on a state visit to the USA. In 1991 he received the Theodor Wolff Prize , the journalist prize of the German newspapers. Since 1991 he was literary editor of the newspaper and influenced the cultural events in the Ruhr area . He lived in Mülheim an der Ruhr on Columbusstrasse. Two books and various readings emerged from his weekend column Columbus & Co.
