Jörg Jung (born November 22, 1965 in Mönchengladbach ) is a former German soccer player and current soccer coach . Most recently he was the head coach of KFC Uerdingen 05 in the NRW League .
Career
Player career
He started as a player in Mönchengladbach-Rheydt, where he was active for Rheydt 08 and the Rheydter Spielverein . In 1985 he moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach . He was mainly active with the amateurs, but came on December 15, 1985 for his first and only Bundesliga appearance . Also in 1986/87 he was part of the Gladbach professional squad. This season he was not used in the Bundesliga, but played two games in the UEFA Cup (each in the local Bökelbergstadion in the round of 16 against Glasgow Rangers and in the semi-finals against Dundee United ). In the fall of 1987 he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for SC Freiburg , where he played eight second division games. In 1988 he went back to Mönchengladbach and joined the Rheydter SV a second time. The Rheydter Spielverein appeared at this time in the third-class Oberliga Nordrhein , as did Alemannia Aachen later , for which he played in the 1992/93 season. In 1993 he moved to SC Jülich , which had just been relegated to the Mittelrhein Association League. With Jung the team managed to get promoted again. Then he played with his club for another year in the league.
Coaching career
In 1997, Jung became the trainer of SuS 09 Dinslaken . He achieved relegation with the team competing in the Oberliga Nordrhein, but left the club again after the end of the season. His next coaching position was with the league competitor Schwarz-Weiß Essen . This was followed by engagements with the clubs Rheydter SV and GFC 09 Düren . For the 2003/04 season he was coach of SV Straelen ( Association League Niederrhein ), but released again in December. Jung returned to GFC 09 Düren. After the end of the 2005/06 season he resigned from his position in order to join Düren for a third time in September 2006. The league team had only scored one point after seven games and, despite an improvement in the results, could not be saved by Jung either. Jung joined the team at Wuppertaler SV Borussia (head coach in the youth division and assistant coach of the first team) and Sportfreunde Siegen (NRW League; dismissal in October 2009). After a two-year break, he became the coach of KFC Uerdingen 05 in the NRW League in November 2011 . After a series of defeats, he was released in May 2012. For the 2012/13 season he was introduced as the new assistant coach of Hans-Günter Bruns at Wuppertaler SV . After Bruns' release in November 2012, Jung took over the sporting direction for four games. Since the WSV did not want to hire him as head coach, his contract was terminated in January 2013.
Jörg Jung has been a member of the "Weisweiler-Elf", the traditional team of Borussia Mönchengladbach, since 1996, and runs an insurance agency.
