Jörg Pfeifer
Jörg Pfeifer (born March 19, 1952 in Merseburg , Saxony-Anhalt ) is a German athlete who - starting for the GDR - was successful in the 200-meter run and 4-by-100-meter relay in the 1970s was. His greatest success is the silver medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montréal with the 4 x 100 meter relay of the GDR (38.66 s, together with Manfred Kokot , Alexander Thieme and Klaus-Dieter Kurrat ), for which he won the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze received.
At the European Championships in 1971 he won the bronze medal in the 200-meter run. He ran two GDR records on this route (20.5 s on June 27, 1971 in Leipzig and 20.4 s on August 22, 1971 in Berlin) as well as an indoor world record in 1976 (21.10 s on January 11, 1976 ).
Jörg Pfeifer started for the SC Chemie Halle and trained with Dietmar Falgowski . He is 1.77 m tall and weighed 68 kg during his playing days. He initially trained as a lower school teacher and later was a coach at SV Dynamo Halle-Neustadt .
