Jörg Schneider (doctor)

Jörg Schneider (born December 31, 1928 in Stuttgart ; † November 21, 2016 there ) was a German physician and gynecologist.

Life

Jörg Schneider was a high school student and was drafted into the Reich Labor Service in 1943, later as an Air Force helper. He was only able to finish high school in 1948. From 1948 to 1950 he studied philosophy at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome , then medicine in Tübingen , Zurich , Hamburg and Munich . In 1955 he was approved in Munich and received his doctorate in Tübingen in 1955. He was an assistant doctor in internal medicine in Stuttgart and at the Heidelberg University Surgical Clinic. In 1957/58 he worked at the University Children's Hospital in Zurich and at the Physiological Institute in Tübingen. After completing a specialist training in gynecology and obstetrics at the Clinic for Gynecology at the Freiburg University Medical Center. In 1968 he completed his habilitation in Freiburg. In 1969 he moved to the University Hospital Bonn.

In 1971 he was appointed to a professorship for gynecology in Bonn. In 1974 he accepted a professorship for gynecology and obstetrics at the Hannover Medical School . He was also managing director of the Gynecology Center at the Hannover Medical School. In 1997 he retired.

Schneider is the author of more than 200 scientific articles and publications.
