Jörg Sennheiser (born September 19, 1944 in Bevensen ) is a German electrical engineer and entrepreneur . He is chairman of the supervisory board of the family business Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co. KG and honorary professor at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hanover .

Life

Jörg Sennheiser was born in 1944 as the son of electrical engineer Fritz Sennheiser (1912–2010) and his wife Hertha (1920–2009). He attended the Hanover high school Goetheschule and graduated with the Abitur.

From 1964 he studied electrical engineering at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University in Hanover , then at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ) . Subsequently, Jörg Sennheiser worked from 1970 as a research assistant and assistant at the Institute for Telecommunications Technology at the ETHZ, where he received his Dr. sc. techn. PhD . From 1974 to 1976 he worked as a project engineer at Siemens- Albis AG in Zurich until he started on March 1, 1976 as technical manager in the family company Sennheiser electronic KG in Wedemark .

In 1981 he was given a teaching position as a private lecturer for the lectures "Electroacoustics I + II" at the University of Hanover. On May 9, 1982 he became a general partner and managing partner, while his father and company founder retired as a limited partner . In April 1996, Sennheiser withdrew from operational management and handed it over to strangers. He himself became chairman of the supervisory board.

He has been a member of the ETH alumni board since 2004 and is now their vice-president. Sennheiser is married and has three children (Daniel, Andreas, Alannah). His two sons have been with the company since 2008 and 2010 respectively. Jörg Sennheiser has lived in Romanshorn with his Swiss wife since the mid-1990s .
