Jörg Steinert (* 1960 on Rügen ) is a German artist ( sculptor / sculptor ).

Live and act

Repelled by the ideological university business in the GDR , Jörg Steinert approached sculpture from the technical side. Even today, he regards their profound mastery as the basis of his artistic work. So he worked in the quarry, with sculptors and with bronze foundries. In order to develop his professionalism, he took corrections for his work from various well-known sculptors in Dresden . Since 1986 Jörg Steinert worked as a freelance sculptor in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg . From 1995 he relocated his activities to Brandenburg , where he found the necessary freedom for his work. So he built a stone studio and a bronze foundry in Schönermark near Angermünde . He lives and works in Berlin and Angermünde.

In addition to the wood, stone and bronze sculptures of various formats that are typical of his work, he also devotes himself to painting. He also uses such unconventional materials as bitumen . He participated several times in the Hartgestein Symposium founded by Joachim Karbe in Angermünde in 1992 . A recurring motif in his work are also the depictions of horses, the best known of which is his filigree bronze casts.

Jörg Steinert's sculptures are in public space and can be found in public collections. This also includes a lot of architecture-related work. His works have been shown in numerous group and solo exhibitions at home and abroad.

Quotes

“Jörg Steinert tries to make his sculptures sound in such a way that they find a resonance in the viewer. His formal stone work is about the attempt to represent transcendent forces. In the figurative sculptures he works on mythological topics with current humanistic references. "
