Jörgen Bracker
Jörgen Bracker (born December 19, 1936 in Braunschweig ) is a German historian and archaeologist .
Life
After graduating from the Schleswig Cathedral School , Bracker studied classical archeology , ancient history , prehistory and early history in Marburg , Kiel and Münster and received his doctorate in Münster in 1965 with a thesis The portraits of Emperor Gordian III. according to a new iconographic method . He then worked as curator and chief curator at the Römisch-Germanisches Museum Cologne, excavation manager and redesigning the new museum building, which opened in 1974, before being appointed director and professor of the Museum of Hamburg History in 1976 . He retired at the end of 2001.
Bracker published numerous scientific articles in magazines, museum catalogs and non-fiction books on the history of Hamburg and the Hanseatic League . After retiring he wrote historical novels: Zeelander, the Störtebeker novel , The Relics of Lisbon, Störtebeker's Legacy and the historical detective novel Behind the Fog Wall . The novel 'Spielmanns Fluch' followed in 2015. In 2018 the first two volumes of the trilogy of novels on Claus Störtebeker appeared under the title Named Claus Störtebeker and Furor Maris.
