Jörgen Welp

Jörgen Welp (* 1963 ) is a German classical archaeologist who emerges with publications on Oldenburg history.

Welp grew up in Oldenburg in Lower Saxony and attended the Catholic Liebfrauenschule in Oldenburg until he graduated in 1983 . He then studied Classical Archeology , Ancient History and Prehistory and Early History at the universities in Tübingen and Heidelberg. In 1997 he was at the Archaeological Institute of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg with the dissertation Thronos. Studies of seated gods and kings in Greek art and culture of the 6th and 5th centuries. v. . Chr doctorate .

He is an employee (archeology, cultural history, public relations) of the Oldenburg landscape and there mainly in the areas of tour guide training and cultural tourism . In the summer semester 2016 he has a teaching position for religious studies / mythology at the music department of the Bremen University of the Arts . Welp is also a member of the “Archeology Working Group in Weser-Ems” of the Society for Monument Preservation in Lower Saxony.

Welp is the author of several articles in the Oldenburg Yearbook . The Innsbruck legal historian Gerhard Köbler holds the work "Jurisdiction is exercised by local courts ...". 150 years of local courts in the Oldenburger Land in a review for the magazine of the Savigny Foundation for Legal History , despite the lack of a register, for "impressive".
