Jörn Rohde

Jörn Rohde (born January 16, 1959 in Bern ) is a German diplomat and has been the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kosovo since July 2020 .

Life

Rohde studied history , economics and political science from 1981 to 1985 . In 1986/87 he attended the College of Europe in Bruges . Rohde is married and has four children.

career

After joining the Foreign Service , he worked at the German Embassy in Jakarta , Indonesia , from 1991 to 1993 , and then at the German Representation of the European Commission until 1996 . After returning to the Foreign Office in 1999, Rohde became permanent representative of the Federal Republic of Germany at the Consulate General in Osaka-Kobe, Japan . From 2001 he was deployed again in Germany, initially as a foreign policy advisor in the German Bundestag , then as deputy head of department in the Foreign Office. In 2006 Rohde went to the German Embassy in Ottawa , Canada, as permanent representative .

After working again in the Foreign Office (2009–2013), this time as Head of Unit, Rohde became Head of the Consulate General in Bangalore , India in 2013 . From August 2016 to July 2020 he was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Colombo , Sri Lanka . Rohde has been the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Pristina , Kosovo since July 2020 .
