Jørgen Juve (around 1935)

Jørgen Juve (born November 22, 1906 in Porsgrunn , † April 12, 1983 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian football player . With 33 goals he is the record scorer for the Norwegian national team .

Juve began his career at Urædd Porsgrunn and played for Lyn Oslo from at least 1928 to 1938 . During the 1930-1931 season he played 12 games for FC Basel and scored 10 goals.

In the national team he was used 45 times, 23 times as a striker . In total, he scored 33 goals. In the other encounters he was used as a right defender or as a center runner . On June 12, 1929, he scored in his fourth international match against the Netherlands in Oslo, a hat trick and thus a 3-0 deficit. The game ended 4: 4.

Juve was also the captain of Bronselaget , the Norwegian team that won the bronze medal at the 1936 Olympics . He was in all Norwegian encounters - including the 2-0 win against the German Reich , with which the hosts were eliminated in the quarter-finals - as a middle runner on the field and remained in the four games without a goal. At the 1938 World Cup in France , Juve was also part of the squad, but was not used in the only game in which Norway lost 2-1 after extra time in the round of 16 against Italy .

After his playing days, Juve was briefly coach of FK Bodø / Glimt .

Since 1928 Juve worked alongside football as a sports journalist for, among others, Dagbladet and later probably also for Dagens Nyheter .
