Jørgen Vind
Jørgen Vind (also Germanized Georg Wind ) (born July 7, 1593 in Roskilde , Denmark-Norway , † July 17, 1644 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish admiral and councilor .
Life
Vind had already fought against Sweden during the Kalmar War, after the death of the Danish Imperial Admiral Claus Daa in 1641, he succeeded him and took over command of the Danish fleet in front of Copenhagen . During the Torstensson War , he successfully blocked the Swedish fleet in the Kiel Fjord . However, he was fatally wounded on July 1, 1644 in the sea battle on the Kolberger Heide , in which the Danish King Christian IV was also wounded. Ove Gjedde became the new Imperial Admiral .
