history
The size of the Jewish community was 29 in 1808, 23 in 1885 and only 6 in 1932. Since 1896 the Jews in Lieser were connected to the community in Dusemond (since 1925 Brauneberg ) and from 1937 to Neumagen . A prayer room is occupied in 1843, which apparently was used jointly by the Jews of Lieser and Maring .
In Lieser there is an old and a new Jewish cemetery. The old cemetery near a slate quarry established in 1929 was occupied until 1913, after which the new one was established, where burials took place until 1932. There are no more tombstones ( mazewot ) in the old cemetery, five tombstones, four of which are labeled, have been preserved in the new cemetery.
