The Mengerskirchen Jewish Cemetery in Mengerskirchen in the Limburg-Weilburg district in Central Hesse is a protected cultural monument . It is located northwest of the historic town center in a building area.

history

The cemetery served as a burial place for the Jewish residents of Mengerskirchen and the neighboring village of Reichenborn . These formed a Jewish community around a building in town that was also used as a synagogue and mikvah . Jewish residents have been recorded in Mengerskirchen since the 17th century. In the 4.98 ares large cemetery there are 11 tombstones ( mazewot ) from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The last funeral took place in 1909.
