Jewish cemetery (Baisingen)
The Baisingen Jewish Cemetery is a Jewish cemetery in Baisingen , a district of Rottenburg am Neckar in the Tübingen district in Baden-Württemberg . The cemetery is a protected cultural monument .
history
The Baisingen Jewish community buried its dead in the Mühringen Jewish cemetery until 1779 . In 1778 a separate cemetery was created northwest of the village (Galgenweg, on the edge of the forest) with an area of 19.59 acres . Today there are 405 tombstones ( mazewot ) in the cemetery .
In 1948 a memorial stone was erected for the Jews from Baisingen who were murdered during the Nazi era , donated by Harry Kahn, who had returned from exile .
