Rheinbischofsheim Jewish cemetery
The Jewish cemetery Rheinbischofsheim is a Jewish cemetery in Rheinbischofsheim , a district of Rheinau in the Ortenaukreis in Baden-Württemberg . The cemetery is a protected cultural monument .
The dead of the Jewish community Rheinbischofsheim were buried in the Jewish cemetery in Kuppenheim and from 1830 in the Jewish cemetery in Freistett . Since only the Löw Simson family of all community members in the Jewish community of Rheinbischofsheim spoke out in favor of their own cemetery, this cemetery in Gewann Schießrain was created exclusively as a family burial site. In this smallest Jewish cemetery in Baden-Württemberg there is only one preserved tombstone ( Mazewa ) from 1819, which is why the place is also known as the Judenstein for short .
