Diersburg Jewish Cemetery
The Jewish cemetery in Diersburg , a district of the municipality of Hohberg in the Ortenaukreis in Baden-Württemberg , was laid out in 1773. The Jewish cemetery is a protected cultural monument .
The dead of the Jewish community in Diersburg were initially buried in the Jewish cemetery in Schmieheim , and at times also in the Jewish cemetery in Offenburg . In 1773 a separate cemetery was built on Bachstrasse in the Rebacker corridor . The Jewish cemetery has an area of 13.49 acres and there are still 212 tombstones ( Mazevot ). The oldest gravestone is from 1773, the last burial took place in 1936.
The construction of the cemetery was largely driven by Josef Bruchsal († 1773), whose tombstone reads in Hebrew : He built the house of eternity for his people .
