Jürgen Alzen (born November 26, 1962 in Kirchen ) is, like his younger brother Uwe Alzen , a German automobile racing driver.

Life

The motorsport roots of the Alzen brothers on the Nürburgring Nordschleife are mainly in the VLN series . In 2007 he was also active in the RCN and in the 24h race at the Nürburgring, both as a driver and as a team boss. The main field of activity, however, is the Porsche Carrera Cup series ( Germany or Porsche Supercup ). For some time, however, he has been concentrating on his Betzdorf- based company Jürgen Alzen Motorsport , which mainly deals with motorsport activities and tuning, with vehicles from Porsche being used almost exclusively .

successes

In 1999, 2002 and 2006 he took second place in the 24h race at the Nürburgring , together with a few other well-known drivers, such as in 2006 with his brother Uwe, Christian Abt and Klaus Ludwig . In Australia, the Alzen brothers took part in the Bathurst 24 Hours .

team

Jürgen Alzen Motorsport competed in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring from 2003 to 2005 with a heavily modified Porsche 996 Turbo . This powerful vehicle was called "Turbinchen" because of its acoustic appearance. With Uwe at the wheel, the car lowered the lap record several times, so that the boost pressure was further reduced by regulations. At the end of the 2005 season, the (most recently damaged) car was sold and a new Porsche 911 GT3 (type 997) was built instead .

In the 2007 season, the team drove the 24 hours in a heavily modified Porsche Cayman with an approximately 530 hp engine from the Porsche 911 GT3. The planned installation of the even more powerful V10 engine from the Porsche Carrera GT was rejected, also due to the regulations. In 2010 Jürgen Alzen drove different Porsche vehicles in the Special Touring Car Trophy and in the RCN.

In 2012 Jürgen Alzen Motorsport entered the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring with a Ford GT . Other pilots besides Jürgen Alzen were Artur Deutgen, Christian Engelhart and Robert Renauer. The team couldn't finish the race. After problems with the on-board voltage, the car had a gearbox damage during the night.
