Jürgen Förster (politician)

Jürgen Förster (born July 24, 1951 in Annaberg-Buchholz ; † February 14, 2018 in Sehmatal ) was a German politician . From 2001 to 2008 he was district administrator for the district of Annaberg .

After studying water management at the TU Dresden with a degree in engineering, he was a. a. Until 1985 he was construction manager for the construction of the Markersbach pumped storage plant and then worked in the Karl-Marx-Stadt power plant construction until the fall of the Wall .

Förster was active in the New Forum during the fall of the Wall . He became department head for social affairs in the district of Annaberg, and in 1995 an alderman in the district town of Annaberg-Buchholz . In the runoff election on June 24, 2001, Förster, who belongs to the Free Voters 'Community Citizens' Forum Annaberg eV , prevailed against incumbent Wilfried Oettel ( CDU ) with 52.1% to 47.9% of the votes . He held the office of district administrator from August 1, 2001 to July 31, 2008. When the Erzgebirgskreis was formed as a result of the Saxony district reform in 2008 , he was able to secure the seat of the district administration for the city of Annaberg-Buchholz. He was no longer available for a new candidacy in the now enlarged district. From 2008 until his death he was a member of the district council of the Erzgebirgskreis (most recently as parliamentary group chairman) and the city council of Annaberg-Buchholz. Since 2011 he has been an “ambassador for the Ore Mountains”.

From 1974 to 2014 he was a member of the board of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Annaberg-Buchholz, and Förster has been its chairman since 2009. In 1978, together with Horst Richter, he took over the construction management for the renovation work on St. Anne's Church in Annaberg .

Jürgen Förster and his wife Maria died on February 14, 2018 in an accident with a horse-drawn sleigh in a forest near Kretscham-Rothensehma . He lived in Annaberg-Buchholz and left three sons.
