Jürgen Hohl (born May 26, 1944 in Ravensburg ) is a German Upper Swabian local historian and restorer . Until 2008 he was head of the cultural advisory board of the Association of Swabian-Alemannic fools' guilds and worked in other fool's associations. With over 120 fool figures developed, revived or modernized by him, he has a formative influence on the appearance of the Swabian-Alemannic Carnival .

Life

education and profession

Jürgen Hohl grew up in Weingarten . After high school in Ravensburg, he trained as a display designer , retail salesman and milliner . He also volunteered as a hairdresser and florist and trained as a restorer.

Local historian

In 1966 Jürgen Hohl created the fool figures of the newly founded fool's guild Kißlegger Hudelmale. In the following years he created around 120 fool figures. In 1978 he became chairman of the admission committee of the Association of Swabian-Alemannic Fools' Guilds, which was renamed the Cultural Advisory Board in 1979 . He held this office until 2008. The home guild of Hohls is the Plätzlerzunft Altdorf Weingarten, whose carnival museum he founded in 2003 as a board member of the Förderverein Fasnachtsmuseum Plätzlerzunft .

Jürgen Hohl is an expert in Upper Swabian costumes, monastery work and Christmas cribs . In addition to restoration work, he leads courses on their production. He has designed numerous traditional costumes himself and is a member of the regional costume advisory board for the Oberschwaben-Allgäu-Bodensee region. He designed a number of dresses used at Upper Swabian homeland festivals. In 1985, Hohl founded a museum in the Eggmannsried district of Bad Wurzach . In addition to traditional costumes from Upper Swabia, religious clothes from monasteries and Christmas cribs were on display. The costumes were acquired in the 1990s by the Biberach district for the museum village of Kürnbach ; The exhibits on monastery culture have been on view in Weingarten in the newly opened Museum for Monastery Culture since 2008 .

Jürgen Hohl appears as co-moderator in radio and television broadcasts of the Südwestrundfunk (SWR) on traditional events in Baden-Württemberg. In Douglas Wolfsperger's documentary The Blood Knights on the Weingartener Blood Kick , Jürgen Hohl and various participants are portrayed in detail. There he appears together with his partner at the time. In the documentary Von Narren und Hexen from 2014 (director: Danièle Bellemare Lee) about the carnival in Weingarten and Ravensburg, Hohl also has a detailed say.
