Jürgen Matschie

Jürgen Matschie ( Sorbian Jürgen Maćij ; * 1953 in Bautzen ) is a German photographer .

Career

Matschie, who comes from a German- Sorbian family from the Upper Lusatian village of Spreewiese , began his professional career with an apprenticeship in toolmaking and a subsequent engineering degree. He then worked as a technologist in Görlitz before devoting himself to Sorbian cultural work in Bautzen from 1979 to 1987. During this time, he also completed a three-year distance learning course in photography at the Leipzig University of Graphics and Book Art . He is a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists .

Jürgen Matschie can refer to a long series of solo exhibitions, the number of his exhibition participations, also abroad, is well over 100.

Matschie is married to the former head of Domowina Verlag , Maria Matschie .
