Jürgen Raschert

Jürgen Raschert (born November 24, 1937 in Berlin ; † January 8, 2012 there ) was a German sociologist and scholar .

Life

Jürgen Raschert came from a family of lawyers and studied sociology, philosophy and political science. He graduated from the Free University of Berlin with a degree in sociology in 1965. In 1966 he became a speaker at Hellmut Becker in the experimental program of the German Education Council .

This was followed by his doctorate in 1972 at the Free University of Berlin (FU) and there the professorship in 1976 as a full university professor. Raschert very quickly headed the examination committee in the field of education and teaching, of which he was chairman for over 30 years until his retirement in 2006. For many years he was dean of Faculty 12 Education and Teaching Sciences.

In terms of educational policy, Jürgen Raschert introduced the new type of comprehensive school in the SPD-ruled countries in the 1970s . He integrated the Berlin University of Education into the FU and some smaller institutes also into the Technical University of Berlin and the Berlin University of the Arts .

His work area Theory of Schools, Educational Policy, History, Organization was founded by him and significantly shaped. He shaped generations of teachers, educationalists and psychologists with his knowledge of the German and European school system, the history of education , philosophy in educational science and educational sociology . Since the 1970s, he worked parallel to teaching at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development (MPIB) headed by Becker .

Raschert lived in Berlin-Westend , where he died on January 8, 2012.
