Jürgen Renfordt (* 25. January 1955 in Wetter ) is a German pop singer , composer , lyricist, music producer and WDR 4 - Moderator .
Life
After finishing school, Renfordt first studied German and sports at the Ruhr University in Bochum . Then he began as a singer with various rock groups before he dedicated himself to German hits. Since the early 1980s , he had success as a pop singer.
In 1981 Renfordt took part in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest . His title Barefoot Through a Fire came in fourth. Since then he has been a guest on many TV music programs. In 1984 he took part again in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest . His title Dance on the Volcano came in eighth. In the same year he recorded the duet No Words Too Many with Denise , the German recording of Don't answer me ( The Alan Parsons Project ). In 1985 he finished ninth with At the Beginning of Time in the preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest .
Then it became a little quieter for Renfordt as an interpreter. He mainly worked as a composer and lyricist for many colleagues, wrote songs for Sandy Wagner , Michael Holm , Ibo , Roy Black , Die Flippers and many others, until he had his greatest success to date in 1988, To sell: A snow-white wedding dress , which became a cult hit . What is remarkable is that this song was also submitted for the preliminary round of the Grand Prix for Germany, but did not survive the radio preselection.
Renfordt is consistently represented in all areas of the music market. As a composer he achieved several chart successes abroad. Songs composed by him repeatedly achieved top positions in the sales charts worldwide. To date, almost 500 titles have been written by him.
For years he has also been working as a radio and television presenter at WDR in Cologne and is active as an author and producer.
Little is known about Renfordt's personal life, as he rarely speaks about it in public. It is known, however, that he has two sisters, is married and the father of a daughter and lived in Wetter an der Ruhr .
