Jürgen Werner (born July 20, 1970 in Zwickau , GDR) is a former German racing cyclist .

Jürgen Werner started his career in the GDR as an amateur and started for the SC DHfK Leipzig . In 1988 he was able to win the GDR championship in the youth A class in road racing . In the 1989 GDR tour , he and the DDRII team took third place in the individual time trial and second place on the fourth stage. In the mountain classification he came in third place.

From 1994 to 1996 Werner was with the Telekom team and then (1997) with the Italian team Refin-Mobilvetta . In individual stages he was repeatedly among the top three and in 1995 at Paris-Tours he was fourth overall and winner of the round about Sebnitz .

Jürgen Werner was a driver for the International Peace Tour in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001.

In 1998 Werner won the Vuelta a la Independencia Nacional as third overall .

From 1999 to 2002 he was with the Nürnberger team , in 2000 he won the one-day race around Düren and was tenth at the Clásica de Almería . In 2001 he was third overall in the Hessen Tour and in 2002 Werner won the mountain and sprint classification of the Bayern Tour .
