Jānis Pēda (born May 18, 1985 in Riga ) is a Latvian volleyball and beach volleyball player .
Career
Pēda started his indoor career in 2002 at Lase-R Riga. In 2003 he was a beach volleyball player with Artis Caics fifth at the Junior World Championship in Saint-Quay-Portrieux . In the same year he made his debut in the Latvian national team . In 2004 he moved to the Italian second division team Samia Schio . After one season, the outside attacker, who can also play in the diagonal position, went to league competitor Carilo Loreto . In 2008/09 he was active at Materdomini Castellana Grotte before he was signed by the first division club Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo . In his first season in Cuneo, Pēda won the Italian championship and the CEV Cup with the club . In 2011 he won the national cup. Then Pēda returned to Loreto. In 2013 he formed a new beach duo with Mārtiņš Pļaviņš , who had won the Olympic bronze medal the previous year. Pļaviņš / Pēda played five Grand Slams after the Fuzhou Open and achieved a 17th place in Shanghai as their best result . They also finished 17th at the 2013 World Cup in Stare Jabłonki . In the hall, Pēda played for Hypo Tirol volleyball team Innsbruck in 2013/14 and was Austrian champion. At Beach, Pēda played with Toms Šmēdiņš in 2014 . At the EM in Quartu Sant'Elena, Šmēdiņš / Pēda were eliminated without a win after the preliminary round.
