Jōji Katō ( Japanese 加藤 条 治 , Katō Jōji ; born February 6, 1985 in Yamagata ) is a Japanese speed skater .

At the age of 17 he was the first young athlete to run the 500m in less than 35 seconds. Three years later he surprisingly won the 500m at the individual distance world championships in Inzell. After this success he was considered a medal favorite at the Olympic Games in Turin (2006). However, he did not live up to the role of favorites and took sixth place. At the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver Katō won the bronze medal over the 500m. From 2005 to 2007 he held the 500m world record (34.30).

At the 2011 World Championships in Inzell , he finished second over 2 × 500 m.
