Jeremy Lee Wotherspoon (born October 26, 1976 in Humboldt , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian speed skater .

During his career, he was four times sprint world champion (1999, 2000, 2001 and 2003) and won the world cup 12 times (over 500 meters in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 and over 1000 meters in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002).

At the Olympic Games, however, he was only able to win a silver medal in Nagano in 1998 . At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , he was considered a big gold favorite over the 500 meters. However, by falling he robbed himself of all medal chances. In Turin 2006 he finished 9th over 500 meters and 11th over 1000 meters.

At the beginning of the 2007/08 season , the Canadian ran a new 500-meter world record on the former Olympic track in Salt Lake City . He improved Lee Kang-seok's old best performance by 22 hundredths of a second to 34.03 seconds.

Jeremy Wotherspoon wanted to clinch his 50th World Cup victory over the 500 meters in Berlin in 2008. The dream ended in the hospital. In a curve, the Canadian slipped unhappily into the gang and broke his left upper arm.
