Jan Bos (born March 29, 1975 in Hierden ) is a Dutch speed skater and cyclist.

In 1998 Jan Bos became world champion speed skating sprint champion in Berlin and won the silver medal over 1000 meters at the Olympic Games in Nagano in the same year. Four years later , he again won silver over the same distance. He has competed four times at the Winter Olympics since 1998 . At the 2006 in Turin he carried the flag of the Netherlands at the opening ceremony .

Jan Bos is the brother of the cyclist Theo Bos . In 2004, the brothers and Teun Mulder competed in a team sprint at the Summer Olympics in Athens and finished sixth. In the same year the three athletes won the team sprint competition at the Open Balkan Championships , also in Athens.

In March 2011, Bos ended his career as a speed skater and declared that he wanted to qualify as a cyclist for the Olympic Games in London , but gave up this plan a little later. In September 2013 he attempted a world record in a human powered vehicle developed by the Human Power Team Delft & Amsterdam in the US Battle Mountain , but was unable to improve the existing record of 133 kilometers per hour with 126.5 kilometers.

Jan Bos has been working as a trainer at the Inzell Ice Skating Academy since 2013 .
