Denis Valeryevich Kusin ( Russian Денис Валерьевич Кузин ; born December 4, 1988 in Qostanai , Kazakh SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Kazakh speed skater . He has specialized in the 1000 and 1500 meters.

Kusin has been taking part in international competitions since 2008. First he started at the Junior World Championships, but without achieving a significant placement. Kusin made his World Cup debut in November 2008 in Berlin . He achieved his best World Cup result so far with a fifth place over 1000 meters in December 2010 in Changchun .

Kusin took part in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver . He came in 23rd place over the 1000 and 1500 meter courses.

At the 2013 World Cup in Sochi , Kusin surprisingly won the gold medal over 1000 meters. This was Kazakhstan's first World Cup gold in speed skating .
