Kjeld Nuis (born November 10, 1989 in Leiden ) is a Dutch speed skater . He started speed skating at the age of seven .

Nuis won the silver medal at the 2011 World Cup in Inzell over the 1000-meter course. A year later he made it to the podium again over his favorite distance at the 2012 World Cup in Heerenveen and finished second.

At the Speed ​​Skating World Cup 2012/13, Nuis won the overall standings over the 1000 meter distance.

At the 2013 World Cup in Sochi , Nuis was involved in a collision with Jonathan Kuck during the 1,500 meter race . After a false start, Nuis was on the way back to the start when he collided head-on with the Kuck running on the inside lane. Nuis started anyway and ended up in tenth place.

At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he won the 1,500 meter race, which was his greatest sporting success to date.
