André Hoffmann (speed skater)
André Hoffmann (born August 11, 1961 in Berlin ) is a former German speed skater .
Hoffmann made great strides in the 1987/88 season, including winning the 1500 meter distance in the World Cup. It came as a surprise, however, when he won gold during the Calgary Olympics . He beat the American Eric Flaim with six hundredths and set a new world record with 1.52.06 minutes. For this victory, Hoffmann was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold.
André Hoffmann has been a junior trainer in Dresden for several years.
