J. Peverell Marley

J. Peverell Marley (born August 14, 1901 in San Jose , California - † February 2, 1964 in Santa Barbara , California) was an American cinematographer .

Life

His first film as a cameraman was The Ten Commandments from 1923.

In 1952 he and his colleague George Barnes were awarded the Golden Globe for their work on the film The Greatest Show in the World . In 1932 and 1948 he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Cinematography . From 1956 to 1962 he worked primarily for television. In total, he was involved in more than 120 productions.

J. Peverell Marley has a star on the Walk of Fame .

From 1944 to 1951 he was married to the actress Linda Darnell for the third time . The two had a child together. A first marriage with Lina Basquette , who also worked as an actress, lasted from 1929 to 1930. His second marriage lasted from 1934 to 1940.
