JAMAS ( Hebrew יחידת המסתערבים Yehida Mishtartit Mistaravim ) is an undercover special unit of the Israeli border police Magav .

Tasks include direct actions against terrorists as well as breaking up demonstrations.

Most of the members of JAMAS have no ethnic Jewish roots, but are descended from Arab minorities in Israel, especially Druze . Their mother tongue is Arabic and they have knowledge of Arabic culture and Islam . Because of the particular dangers involved in performing covert operations in potentially hostile environments, the recruitment of JAMAS members is very selective, and the years of training represent a great physical and mental challenge. Almost all JAMAS members are male and typically unmarried.

JAMAS employees intervene in mass control and insurrection situations in order to eliminate leaders and armed terrorists. After an arrest, the JAMAS activists reveal their affiliation, typically by putting on a ski mask and a police hat, so that other Magav forces can distinguish them from their opponents.
