It is made up of associations that organize examinations according to the rules of the association. The seat of the association is Bonn .

Organization and tasks

The organs are the general assembly , the presidium including expansion, the association court and the stud book commission. The tasks of the JGHV primarily include the establishment of joint examination regulations and guidelines for the training / appointment of association judges as well as the management of the German Working Dog Register (DGStB) as a performance register. In addition to checking a defined performance level, the exams also serve breeding interests. In the possession of the association since 1906, the DGStB is a worldwide unique proof of the work performed on examinations with regard to its completeness.

In addition to all results of examinations carried out in accordance with the statutes, each annual volume contains documentation of the association's work, e.g. B. the statistical evaluation of the breeding tests as well as the minutes of the general meetings. Awards to deserving clubs, breeders and guides are also given by the association. On most of the honorary gifts - as an unofficial symbol - the "sparrow dog " is shown ( male German shorthaired pointer who retrieves a fox ), named after a drawing by the painter of the same name . Ultimately, the association's tasks also include preserving cultural traditions and developing new hunting cynological knowledge.

In addition to the JGHV as the top association for the entire German hunting dog industry, there is also the Association for the German Canine Industry (VDH). As an umbrella organization for breeding associations, it represents the Federal Republic of Germany in the world organization Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) and is therefore of particular importance for the exhibition sector. Numerous breed clubs are members of both the VDH and the JGHV. The associations work closely together; they are mutually extraordinary members of the other organization.

history

The owners of hunting dogs are traditionally organized in hunting dog associations. The founding of the first hunting dog clubs goes back to the time before the 1848 revolution . As a forerunner of today's association, the " Delegates Commission " (DC) was founded in 1879 , which was based on members of five associations. The DC not only created the breed standards for hunting dogs and other dog breeds, but also founded the “German Dog Stud Book”, the first dog stud book for all breeds.

In 1899, the "Association of clubs for testing working dogs for hunting" split from the DC. In 1933 it was merged with other groups to form the “Reich Association for the German Dogs”, but the association became independent again in 1937 and since then has been known as the “Hunting Dog Association” (JGHV), which is still valid today. After 1945 the association resumed its work in the three western zones . On March 24, 1991 the "Jagdhundverband der DDR " (JHV) , founded in 1989, merged with the JGHV, so that the organizational uniformity of the German hunting dog industry was established nationwide.
