reception

Frank Albrecht wrote for Rock Hard that Jack Blades could be "congratulated on his decision" to record a solo album, because the eleven pieces were "all class" and were "far from being a mild infusion of the material of his previous bands". The record doesn’t revolutionize the genre, but anyone who “appreciates earthy rock music with majority choruses and sometimes almost Beatles-like vocal harmonies” would “offer this record you very soon”. Jack Blades “just knows how to write good songs.” In addition, the record represents “a near reunion of the Damn Yankees ”: with Blades, Tommy Shaw and Michael Cartellone “three former Yankees are at the start”.
