Jack Levy

Jack S. Levy (born April 15, 1948 ) is an American political scientist specializing in international relations . He is currently a Board of Governors' Professor at Rutgers University .

Life

Jack S. Levy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Harvey Mudd College , Claremont in 1970 and a Masters in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin in 1972 . He earned his doctorate in the same subject and at the same university in 1976. Ph.D with a thesis on Military Power, Alliances, and Technology: An Analysis of Some Structural Determinants of International War among the Great Powers .

After stations and a. as an Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Minnesota , he became Professor at Rutgers University in 1989 , and in 1997 Board of Governors' Professor at the same university. He also teaches at the Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies at Columbia University .

His work focuses on international relations , in particular on international peace and conflict research and political psychology .

From 2007 to 2008 he was President of the International Studies Association .

The American Political Science Association counts him among the world's most cited authors in their field.
