Jacob Alemann

Jacob Alemann , modernized Jakob Alemann , (* May 12, 1574 in Magdeburg ; † December 15, 1630 ibid) was a German chancellor and lawyer .

Life

Jacob Alemann, from the Magdeburg patrician family of the same name , was born in 1574 as the son of a mayor in Magdeburg. From 1587 he studied law in Leipzig and from 1593 in Wittenberg . Alemann received his doctorate in both rights . From 1603 to 1630 he was an assessor at the Magdeburg Schöffenstuhl. In 1615 he became a city councilor and probably also Chancellor of the Brunswick dukes Friedrich Ulrich and Christian the Elder in 1616 . J. , the administrator of the Halberstadt diocese . He held the office until his dismissal in 1618.

The Alemann family was granted imperial nobility in 1602 , so that from then on they were allowed to carry the title of nobility . Jacob Alemann died in Magdeburg in 1630.

Jacob Alemann's parents were Hans Moritz (I.) Alemann (1545–1607) and his wife Anna, b. Robin (1546-1607). Jacob Alemann was married twice. He married his first wife Katharina von Alemann (1581–1607) in 1602. The couple had the following children: Anna Katharina Alemann (1603–1611) and Margarethe Alemann (1605–1645), later the first wife of the physicist and inventor Otto von Guericke . In 1610 Jacob Alemann married his second wife Katarina, b. Bünemann (1590 – after 1642). Both children were Johann Friedrich (I.) Alemann (1612–1672), Jacob (III). Alemann (1619–1674), Maria Elisabeth Alemann (born 1621) and Christian (I.) von Alemann (1622–1696).
