Jacob Beste (born January 21, 1979 ) is a retired American biathlete .

Jacob Beste lives in Minneapolis and joined the US armed forces in 1998. There he was a member of the US Army World Class Athlete Program . He is married to Jill Krause and studied at Northern Michigan University . Best had his first international appearance at the Biathlon Junior World Championships in 1998 in Jericho , where he was 53rd of the individual. A year later in Pokljuka he was 32nd in the individual, 49th in the sprint, 35th in the pursuit and eleventh with the US relay.

It was not until 2001 that Beste made his men's debut at the Military World Ski Championships in Jericho. In the sprint, he finished 58th. In 2003 he was 54 in Rovaniemi in the 15-kilometer freestyle. In the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons he took part regularly in the European Cup. The high point of his career was the 2004 biathlon world championships in Oberhof . Best was 87th of the individual, 99th of the sprint and 18th in the relay competition with Jay Hakkinen , Jeremy Teela and Tim Burke . He then contested his first race in the Biathlon World Cup in Lake Placid and was 66th of a sprint. Shortly afterwards he achieved his best result in the World Cup with 60th place in a sprint in Fort Kent . Another highlight of the season was the 2004 Military World Ski Championships in Östersund . Best was 46th in the sprint and 22nd in the military patrol race with Michael Brothers, Jeremy Teela and Duncan Douglas . In 2005 he won his only points in the European Cup as 28th of an individual in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . After the season he came to no further international assignments.

On the national level, Beste was runner-up in the individual in 2002 and in the sprint in 2004.
