Jacob Carl Green (* 21st January 1957 in Pasadena , Texas ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the defensive ends . He played thirteen years in the National Football League (NFL), twelve of them for the Seattle Seahawks .

college

Green played college football for Texas A&M University , where he was voted All-American in 1978 and 1979 . His 20 sacks , which he scored in 1979, are to date (2014) a record for the Texas A&M Aggies . In a 1979 game against Baylor University , he scored four sacks and 22 tackles .

NFL

Jacob Green was selected in the first round of the 1980 NFL Draft as the tenth player by the Seattle Seahawks . Green then played for the Seahawks until 1991 and came up with 116 sacks (18.5 of them before sacks became an official statistic of the NFL), 17 conquered fumbles and three interceptions and scored four touchdowns from these 20 turnovers . He was elected twice to the Pro Bowl and was inducted into the Seattle Seahawks Ring of Honor in 1995. With his 116 sacks, he set a record for the Seahawks and, after retiring from active sport, was third in the NFL behind Reggie White and Lawrence Taylor .

Private

Green married his high school girlfriend, Janet, and they have three daughters. His daughter Janelle played soccer at Texas A&M University and married a player on the football team, Red Bryant , who was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2008 NFL Draft . His son-in-law also played as defensive end with the number 79 for the Seahawks and won Super Bowl XLVIII with them before moving to the Jacksonville Jaguars .
