Jacob Herzfeld , also Jakob Herzfeld (born January 3, 1769 in Dessau , † October 24, 1826 in Hamburg ) was a German actor and theater director.

Life

Jacob Herzfeld was a son of the Jewish couple Samuel Herzfeld and Siena Jacobi. He interrupted his medical studies in Leipzig and had his first appearances as an actor in Vienna . In 1791 he met Friedrich Ludwig Schröder and has worked as an actor in Hamburg ever since.

In 1796 Herzfeld converted to Christianity and married the actress Karoline Louise Angelica Stegmann (1766-1812). From 1798 he was co-director of the Hamburg City Theater .

His son was the actor Adolf Herzfeld (1800–1874), whose son, his grandson, Albrecht Herzfeld also became an actor, who married the actress Rosa Babette Link . Their son Leo Herzfeld , his great-grandson, was a bass buffo.

To Jacob Herzfeld and “Caroline Louise Amalie Herzfeld geb. Stegmann 1776-1812 ”is commemorated in the area of ​​the“ Althamburg Memorial Cemetery ”of the Ohlsdorf cemetery on the left half of the double collective gravestone“ City Theater ”.
