Jacob John

Jacob John (born February 17, 1674 in Hamburg ; † September 13, 1727 there ) was a German lawyer and Hamburg councilor .

Life

After completing his education at the Johanneum School of Academics in Hamburg, John studied law at the University of Leipzig and the University of Kiel . In 1695 he received his doctorate under the chairmanship of Elias August Stryk as a doctor of law in Kiel.

After completing his studies, John settled in Hamburg as a lawyer . On April 1, 1721, he was elected councilor to succeed Johann Langhans . As such, John held various offices: Among other things, he was patron of the offices Court , member of the deputation which with the Vorhökerei dealt, and Ratsdeputierter the work inches, which for entertainment of the lighthouse on the island Neuwerk was raised, and the Lord inches.

Councilor John lived on the Kehrwieder in Hamburg.

family

John was a son of the confectioner Jacob John (1645-1719). In 1696 he married Catharina Elisabeth Rieve (1678-1723), daughter of the confectioner Johann Andreas Rieve († 1714). Of his daughters, Elisabeth (1702–1745) married the Hamburg mayor Nicolaus Schuback (1700–1783) in 1725 and Anna Katharina (1711–1733) became the wife of Senior Martin Bernhard Printz († 1766) in 1729 .
