Jacob Lensky (born December 16, 1988 in Vancouver ) is a Czech - Canadian soccer player who currently plays for Inter FC in the VMSL.
Club career
Lensky, whose parents emigrated to Canada from Czechoslovakia, began his career at RSC Anderlecht in Belgium . After staying at Sparta Prague and Slavia Prague , he joined the Blackburn Rovers . In 2004, the defender moved to the youth academy of Celtic Glasgow .
On January 1, 2007, Lensky signed a professional contract with Feyenoord Rotterdam . The defender made his debut in the Dutch Eredivisie on February 11, 2007 in a 3-0 away defeat by Twente Enschede . In August 2008, the native Canadian temporarily ended his career because he felt burned out. He returned to the turf in January 2009 and trained with the Vancouver Whitecaps . For the 2009/10 season he returned to the Netherlands and joined FC Utrecht . The left-back was used regularly in Utrecht . In 2011, it was revealed that he had alcohol problems. On January 1, 2012, the contract between the FCU and Lensky was canceled. Lensky returned to Canada to build a new life there. In spring 2012 he made his comeback in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League and has played for Inter FC ever since.
National team
Lensky has both Canadian and Czech citizenship. In 2006 he made his debut for the Canadian U-20 team , in 2008 he played twice for the Canadian U-23 national team. In November 2009 Lensky was called up for the friendlies against Macedonia and Poland in the Canadian senior team, but canceled at the last moment because he had meanwhile received an offer to play for the Czech U-21 national team. Lensky made his debut for the Czech U-21 national team on March 3, 2010 in a friendly against Finland .
