Jacob Lucius the Younger

Jacob Lucius the Younger , also Jacobus Lucius d. J. (* around 1570 in Helmstedt ; † April 9, 1616 ibid) was a well-known printer of his time who continued the work of his father Jacob Lucius the Elder .

Live and act

His continuous work began in 1595 in Hamburg , where he stayed for over two years and published some works, including the famous "Hamburg Polyglot ", a complete Bible in four synoptic versions and three languages. In the summer of 1598 he returned to Helmstedt and took over the printing works of his father, who had died the year before. On January 12, 1600 he was appointed typographer at Julius University .

After his death the printing house was again taken over by one of his sons, Jacobus Lucius III. , continued. The last publications by this printing house are dated 1639.
