Jacob Ratcliffe (born September 3, 1997 ) is a New Zealand ice hockey player who has played for the Westfield State University team in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association since 2018 .

Career

Jacob Ratcliffe began his career with the Canterbury Juniors, for which he was active in the New Zealand youth league NZJEL. In the 2013 season he played for the first time in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League for the Canterbury Red Devils . With the Red Devils he won the New Zealand championship title in 2013 and 2014. In 2016 and 2017 he played for league rivals West Auckland Admirals on the North Island of New Zealand.

Since 2012, Ratcliffe has always played in the North American youth leagues in the southern hemisphere summer, around the turn of the year. After three years with the CIHA Voyageurs Midget, he first played for the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Knights in 2015/16 and later for the South Shore Kings in the USPHL. There he played until 2018, when he started studying at Westfield State University and joined their team in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association .

International

For the New Zealand national team , Ratcliffe, who could not record any international appearances in the junior division, took part for the first time in the 2016 World Cup in Division II. There he also played at the 2017 World Championships , where he was the top scorer with Israeli Ilya Spektor and the second best scorer of the tournament behind his compatriot Elie Klein , and in 2018 .
