Jacopo da Empoli (born April 30, 1551 in Florence , † September 30, 1640 in Florence ), also Jacopo Chimenti , was an Italian painter .

biography

Da Empoli was born to Chimenti di Girolamo di Michele and Alessandra di Iacopo Tatti, daughter of the sculptor and architect Andrea Sansovino . He was a student of Maso da San Friano , but only until he was 20 years old due to the death of his teacher. He spent his whole life in Florence.

Jacopo painted murals in the Certosa San Lorenzo di Galluzzo and the monastery of Boldrone , but gave up this art form after he fell from the scaffolding in the Charterhouse. Among other things, he is known for his still lifes, which often show large tables with various dishes.

Felice Ficherelli and Giovanni Battista Vanni were among his students .
