Jacqueline Beer (born Jacqueline Vangramberg; October 14, 1932 in Paris ), sometimes referred to as Jacqueline Bär, is a French-American former film and television actress.

General

Jacqueline Beer competed as Miss France in the Miss Universe beauty pageant in 1954. She is Chair of the Board of Directors of the Thor Heyerdahl Institute in Larvik , Norway, the birthplace of her last husband, the scientist Thor Heyerdahl .

childhood

Beer's father was "a well-known writer and owner of a large horse farm". She attended school in a monastery near Paris. Two years later she lived in Middlesex , England.

Career

Shortly after taking part in the Miss Universe competition in 1954, Beer signed a contract with Paramount Pictures . She made her American film debut in 1956 when she played an uncredited role as a model in That Certain Feeling . She was in television shows like Maverick and Sugarfoot by Warner Bros. to see and received a long-term contract in April 1959th She also appeared on Screaming Eagles (1956), The Price (1963), Solo for ONCEL (1964) and The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show (1950). She is best known today for her five-year role as Suzanne Fabray , nicknamed "Frenchy," the charming and efficient operator (and the occasional employee) on the classic private-eye television series 77 Sunset Strip .

Personal life

Beer married the accountant Jean Antoine Garcia Roady on November 26, 1955. They had two sons, Serge and Laurent, and a daughter, Sabine.

In 1991 Beer married the Norwegian adventurer and ethnographer Thor Heyerdahl. They remained married until his death on April 18, 2002. Beer was Thor's third wife. They lived in Tenerife , the Canary Islands , and were very actively involved in archaeological projects until his death, particularly in Túcume, Peru and Azov . After his death, Beer remained active at the Thor Heyerdahl Research Center in Aylesbury , UK, and is also Chair of the Board of Directors.

Beer is an aunt of the well-known Canadian actor Christopher Heyerdahl . Thor Heyerdahl was the cousin of Christopher's father.
