Jacques Dorfmann

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jacques Dorfmann (born December 2, 1945 in Toulouse , France ) is a French film producer with some late forays into scriptwriting and film directing .

Live and act

The son of film producer Robert Dorfmann gained his first film experience in his father's company, Les Films Corona. Already at the age of 18 he was anonymous in the production of the comedy “ Monsieur goes foreign ” and appeared in 1967/68 with tiny roles in the films Mayerling and Leichen pave his way in front of the camera. Immediately afterwards, Jacques Dorfmann began to produce films on a regular basis, which were initially created under the umbrella of Robert Dorfmann's Corona film.

When Robert Dorfmann withdrew from film production in the early 1970s, his son Jacques began producing on his own. Under his patronage, often in collaboration with fellow producers, top-class and commercial entertainment productions were created that passed the box office and featured national icons such as Alain Delon ( The Shockers , Ice Cold As Silence ), Pierre Richard ( The Big Blonde With The Blue Eye ) , Romy Schneider ( Trio Infernal ), Michel Piccoli ( Trio Infernal and Quartet Bestial ) and Gérard Depardieu ( Quartet Bestial ).

After the Stone Age film In the Beginning was Fire , Dorfmann's last great success at the beginning of the 1980s, for which he was also able to receive a César , flattened the quality of his output. After 1983 he only produced films at irregular intervals. In later years Jacques Dorfmann tried three times as a film director and also worked there as a screenwriter. After his battle panorama Druids - the last fight against Rome (alternative title: Vercingétorix - fight against Rome ), which was staged during the Gallic War and was staged in 1998 , which only found its way into the cinemas at the beginning of 2001 and which was positively received by national and international criticism was panned - the German lexicon of international film spoke of “poor acting” and “simple-minded dialogues” and also criticized the “simple staging style” - Jacques Dorfmann ended his cinematic activity.

In the course of the debate about sexual assault in the American film industry and the corresponding allegations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein , allegations against Dorfmann were also loud. French actress Florence Darel accused him of sexual harassment in an interview.
