Jacques Ernst Sonderegger

Jacques Ernst Sonderegger (born December 24, 1882 in Thusis ; died February 17, 1956 Bern ) was a Swiss painter and graphic artist .

Life

Sonderegger studied law. He was friends with Alfred Kubin and Paul Klee , whom he drew attention to James Ensor and Vincent van Gogh . Sonderegger created a graphic work characterized by Art Nouveau influences.

Herwarth Walden exhibited the watercolor The failure from the kiosk owned by Klee at the First German Autumn Salon in 1913 .

Sonderegger's work was and is little noticed. A first retrospective took place in Bern in 1974. In the holdings of the Kubin House in Zwickledt , a large number of graphics are curated by the Upper Austrian State Museum (approx. 130 objects).

Sonderegger's places of residence were Balgach and Pratval .
