Jacques Février
Jacques Février (born July 26, 1900 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye , † September 2, 1979 in Épinal ) was a French classical pianist and piano teacher.

Jacques Février was the son of the composer Henry Février . He studied at the Paris Conservatory with Marguerite Long and Édouard Risler and received first prize in a competition in 1921. In 1932 he was the soloist alongside Francis Poulenc in the world premiere of Poulenc's Concerto for Two Pianos and was also the first French pianist to perform the Concerto for the Left Hand by Maurice Ravel , composed for Paul Wittgenstein , with whom he had known from a young age and regularly played music together. From 1952 he taught as a professor of chamber music at the Paris Conservatory. He made numerous solo recordings as well as recordings with important musicians and received the Grand Prix du Disque of the Paris Académie Charles Cros in 1963 . He died a few weeks after being hit by a car while out for a walk.
Recordings
Février's first publications date from the early 1940s - including the Concerto for the Left Hand and Nocturnes by Maurice Ravel and Nocturne No. 7 by Gabriel Fauré . He also made recordings with works by Johann Sebastian Bach , Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Johann Ladislaus Dussek , Johann Schobert and Darius Milhaud, among others . Poulenc's Concerto for Two Pianos was recorded by EMI France in 1962 with the composer and Février as soloists. In 1963 the complete solo work by Claude Debussy was recorded.
In the 1970s chamber music recordings were made with works by Poulenc - sonatas for violin with Yehudi Menuhin and cello sonatas with Pierre Fournier and sonatas for violin and cello by Claude Debussy with Menuhin and Maurice Gendron .
In 1971 recordings of the complete solo work by Maurice Ravel were released.
