Jacques Grimonpon

Jacques Grimonpon (born July 30, 1925 in Tourcoing , † January 23, 2013 in Cap Ferret ) was a French football player .

Player career

The left defender played after the Second World War at Lille OSC , with which he won the Doublé in 1946 ( French champions and cup winners in the same season); The 20-year-old was only used in seven league games and was also not in the victorious final eleven of the state cup. When Lille again brought the trophy to northern France in 1947 , it was again not used in the final; Marceau Somerlinck and Joseph Jadrejak played on the defensive positions in both years .

There is a gap in the representations for the period between 1947 and 1949. He then played for the second division Lyon Olympique Universitaire (1949/50, 7th place in the final table) and Olympique Lyon (1950/51), who rose as the second division champion at the end of the season. Jacques Grimonpon, however, moved back to the north, where he was twice midfield in the table with first division Le Havre AC .

From 1953 he was under contract with the Girondins Bordeaux . There he finished third in 1954 and personally played such a strong season that he was called up to the French squad for the 1954 World Cup . He was not used in Switzerland, and he never wore the blue jersey of the senior national team afterwards .

In the club he was from 1954 captain of the team that played again for the championship in 1955 as sixth in the final classification. In addition, his Girondins reached the cup final in the same year - the first in which he was also used - but had to bow to Lille OSC 2: 5.
