Jacques Martin (born May 11, 1933 in Chapelle-sur-Moudon , † December 2, 2005 in Provence , resident in Neyruz-sur-Moudon ) was a Swiss politician (FDP) .

biography

Jacques Martin was born on May 11, 1933 in Chapelle-sur-Moudon as the son of the farmer Louis Martin and Suzanne nee Freymond. After graduating from commercial school in Lausanne , Jacques Martin worked for the post office before taking his federal Matura in 1958 and then completing a forest engineering degree at the ETH Zurich in 1963 .

As a result, Jacques Martin, owner of a technical office, worked as a forest inspector from 1969 to 1979 and from 1979 to 1988 he was entrusted with the management of a company for forest utilization and horticulture. In addition, he was a member of the board of directors of the Cantonal Bank of Vaud in 1984 and 2001 . He also served in the Swiss Army with the rank of colonel .

Jacues Martin was married to Marièle, the daughter of the engineer Arthur Paul Charles Wattenhofer. He died on December 2, 2005 at the age of 72 in Provence.

As a member of the free-thinking party, Jacques Martin was a member of the local council of Gryon from 1979 to 1988 , from 1981 onwards as mayor . At the cantonal level, Martin was initially represented in the Vaudois Grand Council from 1974 to 1980 , before he headed the Department of Agriculture, Industry and Trade as State Councilor from 1988 to 1996 . In addition, Jacques Martin represented his party at federal level from 1979 to 1988 in the National Council and from 1991 to 1999 in the Council of States .

By creating developing regions, Jacques Martin helped strengthen the Vaudois economy.
